Mail Box Make Over

Updated 23 October 2003

When we moved from a tract home with a shared mailbox I looked forward to creating a custom mailbox for our new home.  "Main" view of the mail box.

The mailbox was simple to create. I used supplies found at my local Wal-Mart. Patio Paint craft paint by Deco Art in various colors. Stencil 28236 by Plaid Simply Stencils. Stencil 97 036 0710by Delta Stencil Mania. Sticker letters/ numbers set found in hardware (at Wal-Mart). One of my scrapbooking lettering stencils for the larger lettering "HART". Clear Coat sealer by Deco Art. One can of blue spray paint and one brand new mail box. I first painted the mailbox with the blue spray paint and let it dry. Next I started using he paint directly with the stencils but I didn't get clear crisp lines, like I wanted. I ended up using a pencil to draw my design onto the mailbox and then using a small paint brush to paint inside the pencil lines and just over the pencil lines. In some places I took liberty with the stencil designs to create the look I wanted. Some of the flowers were created free hand on the "main" side of the mail box. However, I think I like the flower "garlands" that I created using the stencils better than my freehand designs!!
